Cookies
There is no consent banner on this site, and that is not an oversight: there is nothing to consent to. No profiling cookies, no statistics, no pixels, no embedded social networks. This page explains what is left.
What they are, briefly
A cookie is a small file a site leaves in your browser so it can recognise something on your next visit: which language you had chosen, that you are already logged in. There are two very different kinds: technical cookies, which the site needs in order to work, and profiling cookies, which follow people from one site to another to build an advertising profile on top of them.
The second kind needs consent. The first does not. Here there are only the first, and you can count them on one hand.
The ones we use
Language
A cookie called pll_language remembers which language you are reading in. That is all it does, it identifies no one, and it lasts a year. It is a technical cookie: no consent required.
The forms
The system that runs the forms may leave a technical session cookie to remember the submission you have just made and show you the confirmation message. It disappears when you close the browser.
Administration
WordPress leaves session cookies for anyone with an account who logs in — in practice Cecilia and whoever works on the site. None of these reach a visitor.
There is nothing else. No Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no embedded map, no embedded video, no share button that follows you around.
The choices that make this possible
It is not an accident: these were decisions taken while building the site, and each one removes a request to a server that is not ours.
The typefaces are on this server. Newsreader and Montserrat do not come from Google Fonts: they are files inside the theme. Your browser asks Google for nothing in order to read this page.
The map is a drawing. The one on Contact and on the event page is not an embedded map: it is a vector image drawn from the open data of OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL licence) and served from here. No request to Google Maps, no cookies.
Instagram stays put. The posts on the home page are images copied here, not the Instagram widget. Click the link and you go to Instagram, and from there their rules apply.
The photographs of the works are here. Even those published elsewhere — Paratissima, Adobe Portfolio, Exibart Prize — have been brought onto this site: your browser asks no one else for them.
How to remove them
Cookies are deleted and blocked from your browser settings, without asking us for anything. The instructions are in the help pages of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.
Blocking the technical cookies on this site costs you nothing: at worst the form forgets it has already been sent.
The rest
How we handle the data you leave us by writing or by signing up to the newsletter is on the Privacy page.
