/The work
The work reveals itself as testimony to traces travelled and lived, unchanging and yet inevitably carrying with them a change, a growth that is personal and emotional. It is part of the artistic project Mappature Sensibili.
1. Shaping and cutting through the plates
Given the complexity of the routes travelled, different for every mapping carried into print, some details of the plates were altered while they were being shaped and cut through, to help the mordant act on the plate during the bite.
2. Intaglio techniques
The marks on the zinc plates were made with etching, marbling and direct biting with mordant and effervescent citrosodina.
3. Colour palette
All the colours come from mixtures of Payne’s grey, blue, green and sanguine inks over a base of intaglio black.
4. Overlaying the plates on the press
The overlays set out to reveal the reworking of thoughts and feelings lived along the routes travelled.
