/The work

Another essential feature of the tegnùe is how strongly coloured they are, which comes as a great surprise to anyone looking, so much so that they are considered the true reefs of the Mediterranean. That quality is given back here through different colours printed in transparency.

Essential to the making of the work was consulting the maps of the Venetian lagoon on the up-to-date sites of ARPAV and CNR Ismar; by tracing the sea bed in vector, shapes were obtained that became the plates to be incised and printed, so as to give back to the viewer the truest possible likeness of the Tegnùe off Pellestrina.
